Dollar Per Child Campaign
THSA’s goal is to raise $1 for every child enrolled in Head Start. The Dollar per Child campaign specifically supports advocacy activities in conjunction with NHSA. Funds help maintain high media visibility about Head Start issues, hold trainings on current Head Start legal issues, and impact public policy and legislation.

         Head Start employees can contribute with a payroll deduction. Parents can collect
            personal donations at parent meetings.

         Invite friends and families to contribute. No amount is too small!
         Organize a fundraising event. Local programs and state and regional associations have
            raised money through sporting events such as walk-a-thons, dance-offs, and bowling
            contests; special events like fairs, bake sales, and raffles; and the sale of promotional
            items like buttons, stickers, and pins.

Voter Education
NHSA offers the Voter Participation and Lobbying Laws for Head Start is a 28-page guide designed to help the Head Start community with political involvement. The guide illustrates do’s and don’ts for Head Start communities actively involved in the political process. It references the Hatch Act, which is legislation that determines the level of political activities allowable by law.
